What is the cost of a racing course?
The course costs €1499. Additionally, there are some extra costs: the KNAF exam costs €100, the medical examination €75, and possibly the costs for a rental car.
Why should I choose a DRDA racing course?
With over 15 years of experience, DRDA is the racing school in the Netherlands that stands for quality, safety, and reliability. DRDA is the only racing school where only KNAF certified instructors provide lessons. Whether you are a beginner or have experience, DRDA offers personalized guidance. Students are professionally coached and prepared to achieve their goals in motorsport.
What does the DRDA racing course look like?
Before the course, you will receive the theory and there is an online theory lesson. Our racing course lasts 24 hours. On the first day, the safety measures and the circuit are discussed, followed by exercises on the circuit and vehicle control on the skid school. The second day focuses on personal guidance on the circuit and ends with practicing race starts and taking the practical and theoretical exams.
Is there a minimum/maximum age for participation?
Officially, there is no minimum age. From the age of 14, you can apply for a license for official test days; from the age of 15, you can participate in races. A driver's license is not required, but you must be able to shift gears and properly control the car. There is no maximum age, but a medical examination is required.
Can I participate in the racing course with my own car?
Yes, you can participate with your own car, provided it is a safe race car with a proper roll cage and a secure passenger seat.
Can I rent a car at DRDA?

What kind of clothing should I wear during the course?
Wearing a helmet and closed shoes is mandatory during the course. We further recommend wearing comfortable clothing. A racing suit is not required, but if you have one, we advise you to wear it.
Are there physical requirements for obtaining the license?
Yes, there are physical requirements for obtaining a racing license. During the course, a medical examination is conducted where your urine values, blood pressure, and vision are checked. Additional requirements apply to those over 50. For people with a physical disability, it is required that they can independently exit their vehicle (with roll cage).
What does the medical examination consist of?
For the medical examination, you fill out a form about your medical history, health, medication use, and any conditions. During the examination, your blood pressure, urine, and vision are tested. It is a light sports examination.
Do I need to have an ECG?
No, this is not necessary for every participant. However, for those over 50, it is required to visit a cardiologist every three years, and from the age of 60, this must be done every year.
Are there growth opportunities within DRDA?
Absolutely! Dutch Race Driver offers track days through the Dutch Race Driver Business Club (DRBC), exclusively for license holders, with instructors to further develop your racing skills. Through the Dutch Race Driver Organisation (DRDO), you can actually start racing. We are happy to help you create a suitable plan or put you in touch with racing teams.
Can the course materials be studied in advance?
After you register for the course, all online study materials will be sent to you! An online theory lesson is also provided before the course.
Where can I stay overnight during the racing course?
There are various hotels and B&Bs in and around Zandvoort; if desired, we can book a hotel stay for you. Are you coming with your camper? Be sure to reserve a camper spot on the boulevard in advance, as overnight stays at the circuit itself are not allowed.
Can I obtain my EU license at DRDA?
Yes, absolutely! If you already have a club license or have extensive racing experience, such as in karting, you can apply for your EU license. Contact us via info@dutchracedriver.nl to see if you qualify.
What is the difference between a Club, EU, and International license?
With a club license, you can participate in exclusive track and test days and compete in club-level races (such as DRDO). An EU license allows you to participate in Dutch championships and races in EU member states organized by a Dutch organizer. An international license is required to participate in international championships and races outside the EU. Read more about the license structure here:

Which license do I need?
This depends on what you want to drive. A club license is sufficient for track days and Dutch club sport races. For a Dutch championship held in EU member states, you need an EU license. For international races, an international license is required. We are happy to help you determine which license you need and how to obtain it.
How long is a license valid?
A racing license is valid for one calendar year. This means you must renew your license every year with a new medical examination. With our 'Scheuren & Keuren' events, we offer a convenient way to do this.

What can I do with a license?
This depends on the type of license. With a test license, you can participate in exclusive track days and official test days. A club license allows you to participate in Dutch races with club status. An EU license allows you to participate in races in EU member states organized by a Dutch organizer, and an international license allows you to participate in races worldwide.
How can I renew my license?
To renew your KNAF license, you must undergo a medical examination each year and pay the membership fee. We organize 'Scheuren & Keuren' events twice a year to make this process as smooth as possible:

How does the exam work?
The exam consists of three parts: the medical examination, the practical exam, and the theory exam. During the practical exam, you will drive five laps around the circuit individually and be assessed by examiners from outside the car. The final part is the theory exam, which consists of multiple-choice questions.
What if I fail my theory or practical exam?
No worries! You can retake the exam. If you fail one of the exams, you do not have to redo the entire course. You can come back during the next course to retake the exam.
What is the difference between DRDA, DRBC, and DRDO?
DRDA stands for Dutch Race Driver Academy, where you can follow a racing course and obtain your KNAF racing license within 24 hours. DRBC stands for Dutch Race Driver Business Club, where you can participate in exclusive track days for license holders. DRDO stands for Dutch Race Driver Organisation, where you can participate in club sport races. Dutch Race Driver Group is the overarching organization.
Can I participate together with a friend?
You can participate at the same time as a friend and be assigned to the same instructor, provided each of you drives your own car.
Do I have to pay immediately?
No, you can also pay via invoice after registration. However, the full amount must be paid before the start of the course.
